We all know that the US is sinkin fast because of this massive debt. It inevitably take bipartisanship to take care of this problem, so I have a few ideas that may or may not work. I’m just looking for what you all think. Please note you are open to share your own suggestions for how to get out of this problem.
1) Cut Social Security completely. Take the percentage of money that individuals have already put in and reinvest it back into the government. There is about 2.5 trillion in the trust fund I believe. People then can wisely invest on their own throughout their life to prepare for retirement.
2) Cut the medical spending. Get rid of the Health Care bill that we just passed, Medicaid, and Medicare. Pass a bill that calls for competition between health insurance companies across state lines. This will force companies to create plans that will let people with pre-existing conditions receive treatment, it will give elderly people care, and health care will be affordable for all because at least one company will come up with a plan that fits makes them money and gives people quality insurance.
3) Cut Defense spending. Let’s be honest, this can be toned down some.
4) This is unfortunately the reality that we have to face… we need to raise taxes just a little bit for just a little while in order to overcome this massive debt. Once we’re out of debt we can lower taxes once again and we will have a flourishing free market economy and a smaller government with less spending.
Once again I am just posting this to see if people think that it would be a good idea. Please feel free to give your own solutions to this problem. This is something that Americans must address and we must come up with a solution that will sufficiently work, even if it is a tough one.
