18 year old with credit card debt?

Ok, I am a very responsible 18 year old with a credit card debt problem. The reason I got a credit card to begin with is so I can start building my credit as I want to be in business in a year or two.

I made sure to look around at different solutions, lowest amount etc.

I got the Chase 0 max credit card.

I got the card back in around May of 08.

I made the first few payments on time and before I even got a statement. Then the economy took a hit on my single parent and required me to have to help buy food, rent for home etc. I valued this more than my credit and still sort of do because family comes first!

My single parent has recently just got a job a little over a week ago from being unemployed for over 9 months" and I am now in debt of around 0-0 "not much" however that is not the problem.

My credit, the interest, the economy and the amount I am now making "job" is the problem.

I do not wish to share the earnings however being one who still needs to contribute to my family to help stay in our home and survive I have no choice.

I only have around 0-0 right now to pay the credit card and I have to pay over 0 and Chase wont take anything less. Which means more time put off more interest and more bad credit ratings.

I have seen a lot of buzz lately about credit card debt programs for people in debt over k, however what about people in my particular situation what can I do?

I work hard and am even listing my stuff on classified ads to raise capital. "Being 18 I don’t have a lot of stuff that is worth much as having a single parent you don’t get things just handed to you" which is also good as it teaches you money management, etc.

Though I did research on the front end life happens and causes problems. If I knew this would happen I for one would have never got a credit card to begin with.

This was only to build credit.

I know I screwed up by not paying the credit card off properly. Please do not make comments that are not helpful to this situation. I am only looking for help and advice.

Thank You for your time!

Gambling Addiction / Credit Card Debt – California?

I am 29 in California. I am employed and make over 0,000. I have a gambling addiction which has ruined my life. I owe a lot of money but i owe ,000 among 3 different credit cards, a USBank Card, CitiCards, and Discover Card. I have lost all my money and can’t afford any of these payments. 2 of the cards have let me go over my credit line. I am currently attending Gamblers Anonymous and seeing a therapist for my problem. But i was wondering if you guys had any solutions to what i can do about the credit card debt. Can i work something out with my credit cards companies? Or can i say i’m not paying because online gambling is not supposed to be allowed with credit cards but yet somehow all 3 of those cards let me gamble with their cards? Do you guys have any suggestions about how i can maybe get out of paying this debt or at least getting it reduced? Thanks,
Dave

bankrubtcy or debt settlment ?

I got hit by serious of unfortunate circumstances…the remedy looks so painfull and unpleasant.

Lost my job, after few months of job search and many rejections…decided to try stock trading …and make money.
Did not know it is a HELL on earth…it is a live tourture…scarey-roller-coaster with the Devil having the remote-control. Both my money and myself burnd alive by the CRUEL market….

50% of the money (0k) burned in the stock market was maxed from credit cards. Since I do not have a job (do not know if i could get one at all) there is no way I could re-pay it.

I used to believe that buncruptcy is an econmical-death-sentence….but this time arround, found myself against the wall…do not know if I have any other options.

Is bankruptcy or debt-settlement the best option to resolve credit card debt stresss Or are there any alternative solutions?

Pay off debt at all costs?

I have 00 in credit card debt. I commute to school and I lost my job right at the beginning of the fall semester and with rising gas prices the dollars just racked up. Anyways, I’m back on my feet with a secure part time job and I need to pay off my debt. With my pay/hours right now I can pay off about 0-200 per month. My question is should I use my money I have in other places to pay off as much of this debt right now as possible? I have 0 in a savings bond, another 0 in a savings account my parents opened when I was little, and 00 in a college fund. So after all that my debt would be down to about 0. As much as I like having that college fund as back up I am a Dean’s List student and half my tuition is paid for by scholarships and the rest from government aid each year so I’ve never had to use it. I would really like to pay off my credit card, cut it up, and be done dealing with the debt…what do you think the best solution is? Throw all money I can at it now or just pay what I can each month?

Debt Solutions issues?

back in 2006 I was in financial dier strats with credit card debt… I hired a debt solutions facility to help me out… they did like 4 cc negotiations for me and got them paid off. I had more cards but could not afford the program any longer due the the high fees this company charged. A junk debt collection agency I sent a debt validation letter to them. they responded by senting me a partial copy of a cc statement with my name on it but with the Debt Soultion company address. Now 9 months later a collection law firm is trying to collect on this debt that will be SOL in august this year. So I did sent this law firm a debt validation letter and all they sent back to me was on letter head the same stuff I would see on my credit report is this sufficient validation? I may have paid this card off already ~ can they try to get more money out of me? Unfortunately I have no proof of paying this off and I can not get in contact with this debt agency any longer I AM STUCK. I am disputing the charges and if i owe this any longer. What are my options?
I have checked my credit report with Equifax and it was reported by the collection agency as an open account and that I disputed it after resolution ~~~ :(
Am now sending out second request for validation, specifically asking for my signature and how amount and interest was determined.

Are credit card debt solution companies legit? ?

This is a tad embarrassing, but coming from a lower middle class family and having to almost fully put myself through undergrad and law school, I have racked up a significant amount of credit card debt. I barely make my monthly payment and cannot seem to save any money. My question is if anyone has used those companies that claim to reduce your debt and if so what was the result? thank you.

could I get my money back from credit solutions?

ok so about 3 years ago I had a lot of credit card debt and decided to use credit solutions to try and get out of the whole so much. well they told me to deposit so much money each month into a savings account until i reached a certain amount and then they would reach a settlement with one of the cards. well after doing this for a year and still getting no where with my cards we ended our contract with them. I seen last night on night time that people were getting all the money back that they had paid them. Does anyone know if i still have a chance of getting my money back even though its been three years?

How can i find out what money i owe to creditors when its not credit card debt?

I owe money for things like medical bills or unpaid phone bills from years ago. How can I find out what I owe so I can start paying it off. Most debt solution places only settle credit card debt. Also one one debt my social security number was not right. Will i still be connected to that debt? I have no credit card debt and Id like to pay off these small debts to get my credit score up
