Then we can cut spending and have plenty of tax revenue to make paying down the National Debt feasible. Our weak economy is a much, much bigger problem than our debt. Edit: Speaking of Medicare, I am a Gen-X'er. I've been paying into Medicare and other social safety nets for half my life already, yet Republicans want to take my benefits away. I get upset when my generation is asked to pay for something we can't fully utilize just to cover for the selfish excesses of the Baby Boomer generation. No, but we can spend our way to a strong economy. Then we can cut spending and have plenty of tax revenue to make paying down the National Debt feasible.
